RoughBook – Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

RoughBook is a diary, notebook and ledger app made by GenQi Consultancy Services LLP ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 of India, and Google Play's rules.

The short version

Everything you write, draw or record in RoughBook stays on your phone. We have no servers, no accounts and no analytics or advertising. We never see, collect, sell or share your notes. The one exception is a ledger you choose to share through Google Sheets (below), and that goes to your own Google account, not to us.

What is stored, and where

Permissions

Sharing a ledger through Google Sheets (optional)

RoughBook's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

App lock

If you turn on app lock, RoughBook asks Android to check your fingerprint, face or screen lock. RoughBook never sees or stores your fingerprint, face or PIN.

Sharing

Nothing leaves RoughBook unless you share it yourself. For example, you might share a ledger as a PDF or CSV through WhatsApp, email or another app you choose.

Purchases

RoughBook Pro and add-ons such as Script Book are bought through Google Play, and Google handles payment entirely. We receive no card, UPI or bank details. Google tells the app only whether Pro or an add-on has been bought on your account. Google's privacy policy covers your payment information.

Crash reports

If RoughBook closes unexpectedly, it keeps a short technical report on your phone: the error, the app version, and your phone's make, model and Android version. It contains none of your notes, ledgers or scripts. The next time you open the app, you can choose to share it (for example by email to us) or dismiss it. Nothing is sent unless you choose to share it. If you send it to us, we use it only to fix the problem and delete it once it's fixed.

Children

RoughBook is not directed at children under 13. Users under 18 should use it, and make any purchase, with a parent's or guardian's permission. The app collects no personal data from anyone.

Your rights and choices

Because your information stays on your phone, you are in control of it:

For a shared Google Sheet, you can delete the Sheet from your Google Drive. We hold no copy of your data that we could show, correct or delete for you. If you have a question or complaint about privacy, contact us below.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling RoughBook, or clearing its storage in Android Settings, deletes everything it holds on your phone. Backup files you saved elsewhere are yours to delete.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date, and important changes will also be shown in the app. If RoughBook ever starts collecting anything new, such as crash reports, this policy will say so before it happens.
